Eskimos sign veteran pass-catcher Ellingson

EDMONTON — It appears one of Trevor Harris’ favourite targets will be joining him in Edmonton.

Hours after signing one of the top quarterbacks in free agency, the Eskimos announced they have signed free agent receiver Greg Ellingson on Tuesday, as a busy first day of free agency continues.

Ellingson suited up in 17 games in 2018, helping lead his Ottawa REDBLACKS to the 106th Grey Cup presented by Shaw. He amassed 1,086 yards, his fourth-straight 1000-yard season, and five touchdowns on 91 catches.

Before signing with Ottawa as a free agent in 2015, Ellingson spent two seasons as a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The 30-year-old played in 21 games in Hamilton, hauling in 84 passes for 1,229 yards and six touchdowns.
